The drawback to these kits is you won't be getting a say so on how the car looks since they are pre-designed. Creating and building them from scratch has this distinct advantage.

The decision is yours - to design and create model cars yourself or have a model car already created. It's likely your pre-kitted car won't be much to look at and has very little power but that's not important. The only thing this car has given you that is important is experience.
